A couple of years back, my kids teamed up with some of their friends to create The Donators, a fundraising club to which they would all contribute each month, and then donate their funds to a chosen charity at the end of each 3 month period.
Over the past six months the group took a short hiatus; some members left, others wanted to join and it was decided that they needed to regroup and decide if and how they wanted to proceed. (Actually, “if” was never really an option. They love being able to raise money for a cause.)
As a result, my daughter Maya and her friend Maya Sposito have set up a new Storenvy site called “Creations for a Cause” in an attempt to increase the amount they donate by offering handmade items for sale. They spent a couple of weeks working on the site and preparing items for sale – all of which were handmade by them – and it went live today. Items will be added as they become available, and everyone is really psyched about the prospect of creating things that will ultimately benefit those in need.
The first charity to which the revamped club will contribute is Food for the Hungry which helps provide food and clean water to people in third world countries.
I encourage you all to check out Creations for a Cause and donate if you can. Every little bit will help and be appreciated more than you can know.
As Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Very cool! Some adorable things on their site.
Fantastic idea….. off to place an order now.
